Room 217
The Room 217 Story Continues
by Bev Foster, Executive Director and Founder, Room 217 Foundation
Music has the capacity to elicit response, provide connection, support healing and offer transcendence. Its flexibility and structure make it a valuable means of therapeutic intervention. With an aging population, music becomes an accesshle and affordable means of care and one that brings pleasure to both the care giver and care receiver. Since 2005, the music of Room 217 has been a peaceful presence in the lives of thousands of people. Room 217 began out of a need for beautiful and hopeful music that would gently accompany people going through transitions due to illness or other kinds of losses.
Room 217 resources are used in a variety of ways. The most common uses include:
- Wellbeing
- Caregiving
- Therapeutic intervention
- Spiritual enrichment
- Atmosphere
- Alzheimer’s and dementia care
- End of life and after care
- Recreation and leisure
